Eddie Mullins
I got my side draft built a couple of weeks back. Based on Hofi's design. Box is about 13 1/2" square and a little under 4 ft long. It is made from scrap sheet from hog pins, the same as the forge pan. I added the front panel with 8 x 10 opening after seeing fieryfurnace's on here. Not sure if its actually neeeed, but it works well. Chimney is a 10 ft long piece of used tin rolled up and screwed together to form a tube about 11" in diameter. Only expense was consumables, paint and welding wire. It has much improved my forging enjoyment.
Frosty
Looking very effective Eddie! I love how side drafts draw, makes me want to make one to look like a face sucking the smoke in. Like a B movie demon sucking the life out of a victim. Frosty The Lucky.
VaughnT
Looks great. I agree that you should do something to the front so that it has a gargoyle/demon face. The way it's sucking that smoke out is very impressive.
Eddie Mullins
Thanks guys. A face sucking in the smoke would be pretty cool and actually wouldn't bee to hard for this one. I made the front so that is slips off if I need to modify or if ever needed for cleaning or repair, etc, its held in place by 4 tabs, 2 on each side.
