the iron dwarf
Got some round 35 mm ( 1 3/8" ) and wondered if it is good for hammer heads or other things
John B
Should be fine for hammers, punches, hotcuts, hardies, etc Do not forge the steel below 850-1100°C. After forging allow to cool slowly use as is or it hardens and tempers relatively easily, possible to flame/induction harden for case hardening type finish EN24 was originally introduced for use in the motor vehicle and machine tool industries for gears, pinions, shafts, spindles and the like. Suitable to produce parts where good strength and fatigue resistance is called for.

yahoo2
interlloy 4340 specs I notice in the spec sheet there is no need to preheat and hold before coming to forging temp as with heating 1045 (not that anyone I know does that anyway)
