DanielC
I have googled and read that many previous outfits that carried it, no longer carry it. Does anyone have a reliable source for Parks #50 quenching oil? I would prefer this over the 11-second quench found at Mcmaster Carr. Thanks. DanielC
Will make some phone calls tomorrow if I get time, and report my findings here. Surely there are others out in the water as well.

DanielC
I was hardening a 1/4" thick Cleaver made from 1084, and had troubles getting it to harden in warmed Veggie Oil. While searching around for HT solutions for 1084, Parks came up, a LOT. Since it doesn't spoil, and is made for this and various other steels, I figured why not? I did get it to harden in veggie oil today though. 130F and a lot of agitation did the trick. I'm thinking my previous failure was the result of trying to edge quench such a large hunk of steel. This time, I tried the less desirable heating the edge only and fully quenching the blade. Worked though.
DanielC
Just realized you said ATF, and not motor oil. I had in my mind motor oil after I read your post. ATF having lower viscosity than motor oil and my veggie oil. WHY DIDNT I THINK OF THAT!? Thanks Steve :) mabe because you didnt read the heat treat sticky post, it is in there. DanielC
I sent Kelly an e-mail, and he responded back already. He's selling 5-gallon buckets for $150.
kubiack
Try these guys http://www.maximoil.com. They sell Parks as well as there own blends, ship small quantites, and the prices are very reasonalbe. I think 5 gallons was less than $100 with shipping. DanielC
Thank you for the link, but they were the first site I checked initially. I have not given them a call, but their website no longer has Parks listed.
kubiack
They have Parks listed under salt baths. I don't remember if they had Parks listed under oil when I ordered from them a year or so ago but they did have it. At any rate I orderd their Duratherm G and it has been working fine for my uses. I think I paid around $80 with shipping.
