Adhamh
Hi, I picked up these two pieces today: Looks like an anvil to me! However I need to fill it with something. I was thinking maybe just some Portland cement. Right now it's not heavy enough so it bounces. I also didn't want to fill it with something that will kill the bounce. Suggestions? I also need to mount it so that I don't hammer bent over on the floor, and punch a couple of holes in it. Thanks.
Ridgewayforge
I don't exactly know if that will work. With the metal being struck, the cement would disintegrate. Basically, you'd have a sandbag to hammer on. There would be little rebound. If you call around to machine shops, you might find some off cut chunks to use as an anvil. But, I would discourage using pipe.
Steve Sells
get a solid block of steel for an anvil not hollow
Adhamh
Well, crap! I was really hoping this would work because it gives me a face and horn.
ThorsHammer82
Nope, it give you a could sections of tubing. Horns are nice but not needed. Get a solid section of large round stock. Mount it securely and than you can use the side as a horn.
Charles R. Stevens
At least you didn't put a lot of time and money in it before you figured out it wasn't a great idea. But the tubbing is still good suff, put it in the materials pile.
