Nick
I don't think I ever posted this, a little project I did a while back. It's a copy of a riveting hammer in the Royal Armouries in Leeds. I made it in my shop in Michigan, and went by memory and a sketch. When I went back (I made this on a visit home) I brought mine to compare. It's forged from a piece of round spring steel. As it turned out I started with a piece a bit too small in diameter so it's smaller than the original, but the hammer is fine for small rivets. With the original. I intentionally made the handle a bit heavier. (The eye isn't cockeyed, it's a little burred wood from wedging.)
WmHorus
kinda looks like a rock hammer to me...
Frank Turley
The hammer is like a saddler's hammer, except the saddler's hammer will have two reinforcing iron straps or a socket connected to the eye and extending part way down the haft.
