I actually just spent today learning how to make Damascus billets. Me and the person I was learning with managed to finish two in the 8 hour class.

Winddancer, did you ever get any cable to try your hand at damascus?

Hard to tell in pics but looks like a good start. What metals did you use. How many layers. Are you going to cut/drill/twist for pattern and etch for contrast?

It was 7 layers using band saw blade and steel. The instructer chose it I just worked it. It was folded 3 times, and I think I'm going to try my hand at making a few knives before I try grinding this down into a blade.
