I read this years ago in a blacksmith book, but I cannot remember the source:

A Ring was attached, 6' above the ground, to a post in the door way of a smithy. Below the ring was written the words:
toti
emul
esto

what was the purpose for the ring :D

My research:
Toti: Acronym: Taxes Other Than Income
Or: Tip Of The Ice burg
Emul: Acronym: = None
Esto: = let
My guess: Short, Animal, Hitch ? Just kidding!
This is most likely not the right answer. But it will be interesting to find out what and why?
These kind of questions help make this place fun!
I know that we tied horses high and cows low, for what ever that is worth!
Be safe!
