Harris Snyder
Hi guys, A local guy is selling an antique book binding press. I didn't take a pic, stupidly, but it looks pretty much like this, just cleaner and a bit more heavy duty: (image taken from google) Anyways, the handle comes off easily enough and I figured that if I replaced it with a heavy wheel I could use it as a small fly press. What do you think? any chance it could be useful? Harris
ThomasPowers
No not built to stand the stresses when the weights drive the screw home. (and I've done book binding and own a screwpress)
Jim Coke
Greetings Harris, You might use it as a press for flys butt you won't use it as a flypress. You might find a use for it when you misalign a scroll. It would flatten it with a little pressure... I use a lever action can squisher made for compressing cans... Forge on and make beautiful things.. Jim
