hello everyone, i am new member, from iowa.  i am hoping to get into blacksmithing.  i have welded, done cnc machining and the like for some time.  so being that grandfather and great father were smiths, i thought i would try it out.  

Welcome aboard, glad to have you. If you'll put your general location in the header you'll be surprised how many of the IFI gang live withing visiting distance. town, city, is about perfect.

 

To get yourself started here, take a look around the sections, there's one for about everything smitherly. Reading a bit is a good way to develop a knowledge base wide enough to ask good questions and understand the answers. Pull up a comfy chair, bring a lunch and the beverage of your choice, there're a couple days of straight through reading here if you're so inclined.

It is quite a drive but a group meets once a month at Haverhill which is south of marshalltown or try calling Ray Carpenter , Ammes, Ia for other leads

Haverhill, IA conference is may 17/18 it is always weekend after mothers day. Demo by Bob Tuftee this year. I will try to be there that Friday evening
