mandoro
I was thinking about a few future projects I would like to do and they require metals that don't rust. I guess those projects could be considered ornamental so I would figure that wrought iron would be the metal of choice. Well, if I don't want to use wrought iron, what is there that I can put on metals to keep them from rusting.
Jose Gomez
There are a ton of ways to keep steel from rusting. It just depends on the aplication. For example, you can paint, powdercoat, clear coat, dip in oil, seal with bees wax, linseed oil, or a mixture of wax and oil, and you can use gun bluing (on smaller parts). It all just depends on the size and purpose of the part.
mandoro
Wow, I didn't know that. That now leaves virtually any metal to use for my projects. Thanks.
ThomasPowers
Don't forget forging it out of stainless steel and then electropolishing or passivating it!
Glenn
Mandoro, When you purchase a new car, you expect the paint to last how long?? Industrial paint applications all everywhere. There are some epoxy paints that may deserve looking into. Call a paint store that services industrial customers.
