mitch4ging
Hello All. I have seen this on CL for a while now, and am really considering it. I have zero experience with coal forge side of the house. I had been planning to build one, have a large brake drum and pluming for it, just looking for a table to set it up with, BUT, I kinda like this... The blower will need to be restored. What do you guys think? He wants $375 for it, about 1 1/2 hour drive away, so I was going to try to get him down to $300. Thanks for your input! Daniel S
That is a lot of money for essentially a metal box and some pipe. The gearbox for the blower seems to be missing. A man had one at sofa last year for less, in working condition.
Frosty
Cavalry forges are really handy, especially for demos. They're both historic and functional but that one is in pretty bad shape. I wouldn't offer much at all, MAYBE $50 if he were likeable guy but probably not. Too much work and parts to buy to even get it working, I could make a replica faster than fixing that one. mitch4ging
I think you guys are right. I guess it was more because of the historical romance of the item more than what it's really worth. Thanks for grounding me ! :)
