April 2, 201313 yr I THINK it's for planishing sheet metal. Shapes and smooths it. May have very fast hammer depending on type.
April 2, 201313 yr The overall arrangement made me think of a cam driven rolling mill or a big nibbler. A little alligator shear perhaps. For $4600 starting price I'll enjoy my ignorance. The interesting item in those photos is the cone anvil in the background.
April 2, 201313 yr If it's a planishing hammer, it would be for sheet metal. It would help if the photos documented something other than it being adequately supplied with grease nipples.
April 2, 201313 yr I couldn't tell much from the pics except it has lots of zerks. If it is a planishing hammer you can buy a modern one for the same or less, say a Pullmax, etc. Frosty The Lucky.
