IRONMAN
Looking for tips on adding a bark texture to the face of a hand hammer
Pulsepushthepopulace
You'd have more uniform results if you just had a textured swage. Uniform as in a definitive texture, not uniform as in cookie-cutter... Or just chew up a cheap sledge... with positive and negative reliefs.... John B
Grooves with an angle grinder about 1/8" deep and wide can be used on hammer face to provide a bark like effect, then twist bar after to slightly to provide a more natural look, Different tree types have different bark charecteristics too, so experiment some
4dead
Adding to what John B said, I did this on one face of the hammer and on the other I took my stick welder and just sort of splatter welded some weld on it. Vein it with one side and make small indentations with the other. Works really good. Thanks Randy.
