matthew2riches
Hi all, I have just knocked up a little baby forge for my artistic work as the big gasser was costing a bomb to run so that will take early retirement. 30mm angle iron framework... All ready for lining with firebrick... Collar to hold propane burner in forge. This welded to top of frame... Cutting hole in firebrick... Finished... Bloody hot...! I have ordered some 1/2" self tapping screws to fix the 1" firebricks in place. You can see in the photo above they have bowed slightly due to the heat. These will pull back when I re-heat and then screw them into place. The burner is simply pushed into the tubular collar and held in with a grub screw. I can add a door to the front and back later if needs be but as it is quite small it heats anything up pretty dam quickly. Inside measurements of chamber are 7.5 inches wide, 4.5 inches high and 13.5 inches deep. Firebricks were £25 delivered. 7.5m Angle was £14 from stock. With a few welds and a pack of screws. Less than £50 all in :D :D :D
tech413
Looks real good! I am considering making one along these lines as my current forge is round, doesn't work well for wider work.
