VaughnT
I'm oddly attracted to this blower because I've never seen the like before. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANTIQUE-BLACKSMITH-BUFFALO-FORGE-PATD-1877-NEW-YORK-CAST-IRON-INDUSTRIAL-/160977859557?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257b0733e5 But, as the description shows, one of the big gears is broken. What would it cost me to get this gear replaced? I like the lines, but I'm not a founder. Could this gear be recast for under a hundred bucks? Fe-Wood
Under $100? Not a chance. Cool blower setup though...
VaughnT
I was afraid that was the answer. I have plenty of air for the fire, but this was something neat that I hadn't seen before. Would have been nice to have....
1forgeur
Can't tell from the picture, but would the ring gear from a car flywheel be close?? Just a thought
Gundog48
I was thinking ring gear. Perhaps it could even be possible to cut a ring gear if it's too big and forge it around something of a suitable size and weld back up. Bit of a long shot but it could be done. LeeMcKee
If someone brought that to me and commissioned me to reproduce it I'd have to charge right around $250 to see the job through... The ring is easy enough to cast given the amount of material that is left unbroken. Nice blower by the way.... It may be worth saving as I have never seen one quite like it either...
