Im a computer programmer, with a small hobby farm on the outskirt of Richmond, VA. Ive wanted to take up blacksmithing for years, but just acquired my first anvil in Dec. I have a super busy schedule so Im not sure at this point how far Im going to take it, but I have created a charcoal burning forge and was able to bang away on some railroad spikes recently. I got into it for the romantic notion of making a sword or knife some day, but after seeing a book on how to blackmsith tools for a farmstead, Im much more intrigued by more practical applications.
