January 15, 201313 yr My wife and I are looking at taking a mini vacation sometime between now and the end of March. We would like to go to a blacksmith event within about an 8-10 hour drive from north central NC. We have looked at the ABANA event in Lumpkin, GA, but it seems mostly focused on historical information. We would like something that has demos, hands on work, tailgaiting, etc. Any suggestions? Harmless Dave Green Bear Forge
January 15, 201313 yr I believe Batsons Blade Symposium is in early April just outside Birmingham Al @ the beautiful Tannehill historical park.

January 15, 201313 yr Third weekend in March is the NCCA meeting at Big Blu Shop in Morganton, NC. We get there Friday afternoon, visit and party. They always have a big pot of chilli, or soup beans. We can camp out in the shop and then have demonstrations Saturday morning and afternoon.
January 15, 201313 yr For general blacksmithing, Boone's Pasture party in Louisa, VA Feb. 23. For sharp & pointy, thru the ABS calendar we have the Doomsday Knife Class is at Haywood CC west of Asheville Feb. 21 - 23. They will also be hosting the Smoky Mtn Hammer-In March 15 - 17.
January 15, 201313 yr If you are anywhere in central NJ near the 95 corridor, you could always stop and visit my museum. Good for at least a two hour visit. I just need a heads up and it has to be a weekend or after 430 pm weekdays.
January 16, 201313 yr a little bit farther but with longer lasting results come down to Mississippi to visit with Lyle Wynn or Ed and Brian Brazeal for top notch training for the both of you. No waste of time and money there....and ohh so much to learn. Carry on
