CleetisMorgan
I am a blacksmith rookie, and love all the opinions on this site. I see a lot of discussion on vise and anvil stands--3 legged vs. 4 legged, etc. so I wanted to share what works for me. The base of this stand is a Yetter coulter, bought at scrap price from a farmer down the road. These start at 42", and when they wear down to 36ish they are replaced. The beauty of this base is its heavy, it's slightly cupped so no matter where I move it in my shop it's stable, and the edges are beveled so I don't trip. If I'm working to the side of the vise I can also stand on it. Hope this helps at least one person!!
Chuck in Ms
Looks like a good stand, I could use one like that for my demo setup. I haven't been bringing a vise because I couldn't decide on a good stand that was portable enough. Thanks for sharing I may borrow your design if you don't mind.
