The disappointed comment by LastRonin. I come to this site because it has great info. I mean GREAT. Second to none. That said , I dislike paging through 100 replies of which 25 are related to the subject matter and the other 75 are "discussion". By that I mean ego-enhanced discussion.

I am a nobody on this site, but I will completely agree with the disappointed comment. Which one?

Oops. A 5" vice. A 5' vice would need a better stand

Thomas--you will see very soon. I have 3 burners from a Majestic that I put on another shell, but I hope to move them over to this unit ( if the math works). I also need to search IFI tonight for a super burner, or what other options are out there. I can't just build another forge as it would be my 5th propane, so I'm looking to combine. But, a single super burner would be fine and would allow me to give acoue away to beginners. I respect your opinion---what would you do?

I stumbled on a stash of old autoclaves and our lab director told me to take a couple. 5/8" stainless .

Nick-- thanks for posting this. I have a Mousehole anvil with a horn shape that would work well with that setup. Yesterday I started gathering the material...

NJ, that is completely awesome. And the pattern of that 700 pound anvil, also. Super cool stuff.

I have two HB's, a 99 and 115. The 99 I got for the price of a fix, because the face needed major work. I refaced it with Stoody rod and have it to my wife. The 115 was listed on CL as a "70 pound Hines Brooden". I called 11 minutes after it was listed, and met the guy the next day with $125. He told me he knew he listed it too cheap as he got about 40 calls before I picked it up. I enjoy working on this anvil. Great rebound.

This anvil is marked 1-0-20, but is actually 149 lbs. It was thrown in as a freebie when I bought a large coal forge at an estate sale. Rebound about 60%.

This 115 lb Attwood was the first anvil I owned. Bought it for $200 from a guy I knew that crashed his cycle and needed fast cash. He threw in a never-used 3 burner majestic forge to make the deal. It has about 50% rebound, and if it could talk it would say "I make nails", as that's all I did on it for months after I got it home.

I have 5 PW's. The ones pictured here are 154, 191, 112, and 100 lbs. The two smaller ones (on the floor) I bought for my kids who are 9 and 7, for future use. The 154 lb is my go-to anvil, I love it. They all have around 80% rebound. I bought these as a group for a grand total of around 1.90/lb .I also have an early PW 131 lb that fixed the face on that is not pictured.

Here is my 180 lb Fisher, dated 1887. I paid $300 for this anvil--bought it from a truck driver that used to deliver my liquid fertilizer. It has about 70% rebound, and like everyone says, quiet, quiet, quiet. It's not my go-to anvil, but I pull it out when my kids are in the shop to keep their hearing intact.

This 70 lb Fulton I use for a bench anvil. It has an 80% rebound and for what I use it for its a good little anvil. Paid around $100 for it.

TP, I have learned a TON from your posts. I came on here thinking I knew a lot, and you knocked me back numerous times right where I needed to be. In Africa, there was an area where the old male elephants were getting poached which made the younger males get out of control. The only way to restore order was to bring some older males back in the area... I'm not calling anyone an old elephant. But there is something about the wisdom that comes with age that makes any of us sit up and take notice at times. And be humbled. Eric
