5starhobo (blake)
i found this old brake drum out back and i was wondering if it is too big to build a forge in. its about 16 inches in diameter and a foot deep. I can always cut it down if need be, but i don't want to do that if i don't have to. I will try posting a picture as soon as i can. Any help guys? Charles R. Stevens
Bring the tweere up till it's 4" to 8" from the top, depending in fuel choice, deeper for charcoal, less so for coal. Just back fill with dirt, sand or ash. Cutting a relief of 1- 1 1/2" on each side is helpful for laying long stock across and keeping in the fuel (lower the tweere accordingly) but not nessisary. Elemental Metal Creations
It may be on the lage size but you can always fill it with clay and try different shapes and sizes of firepots untill you decide what you like/need.

Marksnagel
What is your general location. There may be a smith near you that could help you get started. Mark <><
