Spots
This is my idea of the knife jim bowie had one the sandbar years ago. Most accounts say it was a heavy bladed guardless butcher knife with a clip pointso heres my version. Built from hoof rasp, full tang with purpleheart handles. Pre cleanup Heating for hardening Finished product
metal99
Nice looking knives man! I've always like the look of a file knife. Did that farriers rasp harden up well? My dad has one and I was thinking of making a knife with it.
TheoRockNazz
Ah man, I love rasp and file knives. Here's what I did with mine http://www.beautifulblades.com/products/show/1470 It hardens nicely, if I remember right, older ones are simpler high carbon steels, occasionally you get lucky with W1 / W2. I would rework them Understand I am being Harsh to your Build but your first knives looked much better and I know you can do better at handles Sized to the blade . Bless you Brother . Sam not harsh at all. I will look into reworking the handles. I thought they looked good, and probably will build another with larger handles as I may have these sold already. Do you think they would flow better longer or wider??
Perrin Aybarra
Personally, the handles look a bit thin, and I can't really tell how much the pins stick out from the handle, but it SEEMS as though they might cause some discomfort after long periods of use. Just my thoughts. Loom pretty good overall
Robert Yates
Look at a few Bowies on the Net or even on here for a few ideas on handles . it will help you to see what others are doing as well . Sam
Loneforge
If you could sink those rivets and clean a little more I think the design is awesome!
