101 H-B
Found interesting enough to share: An original enamel Söderfors sign 69.5 x 49.5 cm and 1927 Catalog in excellent condition were sold this past week at auction in Sweden for 15,100 Swedish Kronor ($2,250 USD). Pictures attached, we now know what the crest on the anvils really looks like. Would have been great if there were pictures of the catalog pages, they made most every country's unique pattern in the 1920's. Enjoy. Nicemibs
Thanks for that info, I will have to look closer at my anvil to see if I can make that symbol or crest out of the worn side of the anvil. thanks Jeff
macbruce
One very cool old enamel sign! There are quite a few of those in this country but they usually have some bullet holes in em.....Thanks for sharing.... B)
Frosty
Thanks for posting the pics. I'll have to take a much closer look at mine now. You can easily read date, 1933 stamped in the side but I'll be taking a piece of chalk to it and see what I see. That sign would sure look nice in my shop but I can think of something better to do with $2,500 . . . and I'm pretty sure Deb would help out if I had trouble. <grin> Frosty The Lucky. pkrankow
I am glad there are people who can preserve these pieces of history. Thank you for posting the sale pictures. Is it a safe guess that you are an interested observer and neither buyer or seller? Phil
101 H-B
Phil: Yes, I'm an interested observer. I was thinking about bidding, but it got too rich for me.
