John B
A previous thread prompted this question, requesting a formula, not many formulae forthcoming but lots of practical (and easier for some like me) methods, So for the benefit of all, How do you mark out for your trivets? Wayne
If you mean the position of the legs on the ring I put a mark in one point then use a pair of dividers, tapping them open or closed until I get three equal points.

Trivets don't always sit on a ring, but it is a general question and will be interpreted in different ways , which is good because we should get many answers , some we may not ourselves have thought of. We seek to acquire and spread the knowledge in the spirit of the forum
