Farmall
I think this is the week for finding possible anvil purchases....had the earlier post about the cast one, now I have been offered a really nice colonial anvil. Here's the photos I was sent from the guys phone. Any ideas on maker? There is a hint of writing on the side, but doesn't look like "Mousehole" to me. Any ideas on make? I am going to look at it Thursday. It's seems to be a nice early one (no pritchel). Thanks for any and all help.
Drewed
Not a clue on who makes it, but it looks like a decient anvil. Any idea on the size? Face looks flat, decient edges, may be painted.
ThomasPowers
Yes; I would say that it is definitely made by one of the several hundred english makers who made anvils like that! The hint of writing might narrow that down considerably! We often "guess" mousehole as that is one of the most common makes to make it over here to America; but others did as well. BTW are you *in* America? Canada, Australia, South Africa seem to have more different english makers represented.
Farmall
It does look painted to me as well. Weight supposedly "more than 200 pounds",
Farmall
Sorry. Thomas about not posting location. I was working on my previous post when you posted. The anvil and I are in Virginia.
Timothy Miller
It has a cutting table so if it is colonial it is very late colonial. It looks like it says Sheffield on the side but with out better pictures who knows.
