We've been looking and looking for an anvil to get started with when we got a call from a friend that cleans out factories. This was what we picked up. We have no idea what it weighs or who made it but it came from a factory in northern Michigan.

Nice anvil ya got there. I would guess it to be a Trenton or a Hay Budden. Either way I'd be happy with it.

That's true it does look like it could be either one of those. I hit on it a little bit today and it has pretty good bounce from what I can tell with my limited experience but as far as a starter Anvil for $200 I figured I couldn't really go wrong.

You are right, for $200 you didn't go wrong. Usually when people add beer, the things they tell you about grow in size, i.e. fish stories. Nice anvil! Enjoy it.

Definitely has the "late 19th century/early 20th century American Style" look to it and is a great size. Does not look in too bad a shape either. You got a good deal on it! (now was there any tooling around it????) Good type of friend to have!

lol not for sale guys and no I couldn't get any tools with it. I'm definitely going to need some tools now. I wish there was a part on this site for used tools like a classifieds section. Thanks for the comments everyone, I appreciate it.

Ahh the tailgating forum is the classifieds section here. Not a lot of folks sell tooling as a smith can make their own and so the mark up is not as high as one would like. I'd talk it over with your friend as to what he should look out for. I have heard of literally tons of anvil tooling getting scrapped over the years as the people don't recognize it as such.

Or, you could simply import me to your locale for a long weekend, and we can make you all the hardy tools you desire. I'm not cheap, but I am a bit cheaper than Mr. Brazeal... LOL Of course, he's faster than me.
