Ben van Leeuwen Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Anyone near Leo, Indiana might want to check this one out. Regretably, I am just not willing to drive 6.5 hours to bring an anvil back through customs to Ontario.http://www.ebay.ca/i...=item4aadf344ef Quote
Fosterob Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Looks almost new, advertized as 170 pounds and with the stand, hammer and a couple of tongs not a bad deal. $125 with 3 more days Quote
ThomasPowers Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 So the anvil is about 100 pounds (the 10 marking) and the stand is the other 70. It's in nice condition and Vulcans are a *quiet* anvil very good for suburbia and urban smithies. Vulcans are also on the bottom end of the quality scale for "real" anvils and the steel face is generally fairly thin---any dressing to pretty it up and it's probably close to useless. Faces tend towards being soft on the larger ones too. Pick up only => will probably go cheap. Good as I would NOT pay the same price as a similar sized anvil of a higher quality make! Quote
Bentiron1946 Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 That if one of the few I have seen that doesn't have huge chunks out of the edges of the face plate. Vulcan anvils just don't survive like that without some help from above it seems. Quote
bajajoaquin Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 He's also got a leg vise for sale, currently at $30. His ad says that he's going to be getting rid of steam engines and other interesting things. Probably worth watching his auctions for a while if you're close enough to pick things up. Quote
