ichudov
This little something weighs at around 100 lbs. It really is an anvil, as it has numerous hammering marks.
njanvilman
Any makers marks? Can you tell if it is cast or forged? Or if there is a hardened steel plate on the top. First guess is that it is a sawmakers, but it just could be a nice block of hardened steel.
arftist
If you hammer metal on it, it is an anvil.
Javan C.R. Dempsey
I'm always on the lookout for these type anvils, but never seem to see any in my area. I wonder how many sawer's anvils have been discarded as scrap because nobody realized they were anvils.

MattBower
If anyone in the northern NH/southern Maine area is interested, I can tell you where you can probably find a sawyer's anvil similar to this. It's at an antique shop in Wells, Maine, or was as of early August. I didn't bother asking about the price, since I didn't really need a sawyer's anvil and, judging from his prices on other stuff, the proprietor of that shop isn't particularly interested in giving good deals.
