junker Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 i just completed my basic and AIT with the army... im home on leave but will be stationed in bamberg germany. are there any smiths in that area on here... oh yeah... and it's good to be back Quote
ThomasPowers Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 When I did a summer in Germany I was able to do some smithing at a Freilandmuseum in Bad Windsheim; much like historical places in the US their craftspeople may be Volunteers. Ask around and see if you can participate. (Unfortunately the smith who let me "play" was 82 back in the mid 1990's and so unlikely to be there now.) Quote
eric sprado Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Look up "Flashing Forge" on Google or find Alan Flashing on NWBA site. He served an extensive apprenticeship in Germany and knows LOTS of smiths there. Good luck! Eric Sprado Quote
Marcus Hopfinger Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Welcome, or should I say willkommen, back from Basic and AIT! Enjoy your time in Germany. I was only there a couple times for Warfighter training exercises or in transit to and from Iraq and saw very little of the country but what I did see was magnificent. I have a couple old college (ROTC) buddies that have been stationed over there for quite some time and love it. Quote
