mat Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 i have been gathering scrap to build a rusty/dusty hammer,my concern has been the hammers stability and wasted energy with movement.so what are opinions of this hammer, down side bigger footprint/more materials, but is it a better design? Quote
pkrankow Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 The frame and anvil look solid and steady. I just see the cantilever spring arm whipping, which stores extra energy. Phil ps, I think I misread the question, but I am not changing my answer. Other people know more about power hammer design than I do. Phil Quote
arftist Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 It is not an improvement over the rusty/dusty style if that is what you are asking. My 75# rusty style has a much smaller foot print, and more throat area between the upright collumbs and the anvil. Quote
CurlyGeorge Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Looks like fun to work/play with. But I think I'll stick with my tire hammer. :D Quote
