macbruce Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Well I don't know how ''good'' this configuration is but it has stood the test of time, at least 20 yrs.........If I ever make more, I might try a rack an pinion thing............ Quote

How is the leakage around the door? Any issues with wear on the brick to brick contact surfaces? Ric Quote
HWHII Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Here is a picture of one. Sorry about the picture being so big. In a old batch that was not down sized. This door work very well. The counter balance is the same as the door, so it stays where you put it. Quote

Yes.........But it has to breathe anyway........The sides/top are hard cast refractory and the doors are hard firebrick 12'' x 12'' x 2'' not terribly efficient but tough. Quote
Norseman C.B. Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 This works for my forge two vertical slides and a sort of spring tab to hold it simple and effective so far.....C.B. Quote
