Check E-pay for taps. I bought a 5# box of assorted taps from a guy who was getting the surplussed ones from Boeing. They use a tap for 6 holes then replace it. No need to spend $$$ to remove a $20 tap from a $10,000 front gear housing. I paid $28 for mine, and got well over 100 taps from 10-32 up to 1/2-13, and all of then were spiral point (no reversing done), and good USA brands.

All of the sizes are standard sizes that you can use often. Watch the 10-24's though as they have a tendency to snap due to the thread depth to diameter ratio.

For drills look up MSC Industrial. A good quality HSS jobber drill is all that you will probably need, don't worry about coatings, or higher alloys. I have rarely had to buy a new drill, as I have tons from auctions, garage sales, fleamarkets, etc..
