macbruce
Can mild steel be used for bottom fullers? Thanks Y es and no....Yes, If you want a fuller for a quick maneuver that you don't expect to last, and no, if the tool is going to take a place in the tool rack.........mb
arftist
Good answer MB. A drilling hammer head makes a nice blank for a fuller.
ThomasPowers
Heavy coil spring can be used for a Q&D one---double over a section and forge it to fit the hardy hole then a right angle bend to put the "working part" over the meat of the anvil. Normalize.
monty
i have a couple of tractor pins which i believe are med c. would they work or is it high c only for long term use. thanks for the answers
ThomasPowers
Should work. Normalize them or harden and draw way back. Remember that *everything* in a blacksmith shop is a "consumable"---even the smith. If how you work them wears them too fast the *next* one can be made a bit more fancy in steel and heat treat!
