Hollow Scrolling

Anyone have any ideas on doing scroll work using hollow tube? I was wanting to do a lamp holder routing the cord inside the scroll. Thank you in advance for your input.

It can be done, work it hot and carefully, and don't go for tight bends, you can weld a solid piece on the end of the tube if you want to make the ends tight or fancy,

Make sure there are no sharp edges to chafe any wires, use grommets and adhere to any electrical codes.

The thinner the wall the harder it will be, so don't use anything less than 11ga or 1/8'' square or round, if possible. The thicker you go the tighter the bends you can do....It's really not too bad, just go slow and use a scroll form........mb

You can make a scroll jig to wrap the tube around then thread a length of cable through the tube and use it to apply pressure to bend it to the scroll jig.

No guarantees of course.

flatten the end of the tube wrap around a scroll form and it will taper till it is full round. Drill into were it is large enough for thr wire

YUP......very doable.......here's a sample of forged and scrolled tube....

I have capped the ends and filled it with dry sand heated and scrolled let cool drill you holes and remove the sand. it works very well make sure its* dry sand*

Thanks for everyone's input. Roger, I think that we're on the same page on what I was wanting to do. I'm with Frosty though, I would like to know more on how you did yours Bill.
