ThomasPowers Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Nice video of a swordmaking anvil in use. (note includes a sword test on an animal carcass from the butcher's; it also includes the smith's wives doing the striking with sledges) Quote
Ric Furrer Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 That blade is Persian (not of Indian manufacture) and most likely from crucible steel...I saw many of that shape (with the grooves and all) while in India. Also note the darker edge which may denote hardening. The Indian smiths did make wonderful pattern-welded and crucible steel weapons though...saw several thousand of those as well in 2007. Ric Quote
WmHorus Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Might be less DV cases if wives could swing sledges like those 2. Quote
ThomasPowers Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 and more "tragic fatal accidents" out in the shop? My wife has told me that the only path I would have for a split up lies through a shallow grave out in the desert and she has the shovel already! (we've been married almost 27 years and are hoping for 27 more!) Quote
