I Forge Iron

Hello everyone,
My name is Addison de Lisle, and I am new to these forums though I have run across them a few times before in various web searches. I am a senior at the Maine College of Art and I am just getting into blacksmithing. My first experience was at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts last summer, when I took a two-week course with Alice James. I loved it, and have been focusing on it at school since then. This winter I bought a small anvil (125 pound English anvil), a nice post vice, and a gas forge, and am looking forward to getting to use them when I finish up school. Most of my work at school has been focused on locks, though I also have been making a lot of nails for part of my thesis. I just registered here today and am looking forward to learning from you guys. "See" you around :)

Hi Addison, Welcome to the site and your new career.

One of our members here in the UK is a Josh de Lisle (would that be a distant relative?)

Here are a couple of items made by him during his College course at Hereford I believe.

His Horse interpretation sculpture

Something to possibly aspire to if you like that style of 'smithing, and to enjoy anyway
