J W Bennett
I seem to forge in cycles, every once in awhile I get the notion to forge tongs. I had several styles I have been wanting for awhile for 1/4" - 1/2" round and square. I have also been forging alot of 1'4" flat stock lately. I forged these today. I didn't have any offset tongs at all so I forged two pair to see how I liked them. I am happy with the finished product.
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
Outstanding! I find the flatbar/loop tong to work just a little better if the eyes are tear-drop shaped. The flat bar nests in a little tighter that way. You guys must be planning for my retirement!
J W Bennett
Thanks for the info Grant. Actually I believe I contributed to your retirement fund when I bought a KA75 and by the way I love it. But I enjoy making tongs now and then and I hate to buy what I have time to make. Like always I appreciate your input. John

J W Bennett
George, One of these days we need to get together again and mangle some steel. Clinton, 3/4" round A36. 7" will give you a 15" rein more or less.
CurlyGeorge
I'd like that, John. I'm retired, now, so maybe we can work out our schedule sometime this summer and get together again. :D
Jason @ MacTalis Ironworks
I need to git off my butt and hijack a power hammer and churn out a few tongs mysself. I am severely lacking in a couple of the common sizes of steel I use and I am sick of "making do" with what I have.

John P. Lavelle
I have the tong tool that is in the KA75 tong video. Bought it when I picked up the hammer last spring John: Thanks for the reply. I made one similar out of some 4140 stock. I just normalized it, but so far It is holding up pretty well under my ka75. Happy forging. John P. Lavelle
