John: Thanks for the reply. I made one similar out of some 4140 stock. I just normalized it, but so far It is holding up pretty well under my ka75. Happy forging. John P. Lavelle

Brian: Attached is a picture of the original bar of 4140 and the rough-forged 4lb hammer before it left my shop. Your hammer is next to it for comparison. Over the weekend we forged another hammer head from 1045 and a top fuller from 4140. Finally, I am attaching an image of some hardies we have recently forged. John

Howdy: Brian Brazeal came to Ohio and we were able to forge for a few days. Here is a picture of some tools we were able to make. The hammer was made from 1045 and the tooling from 4140. Sorry for the clarity of the picture, we made a lot of dust!
