Welcome to the community!

I have a Shearing machine manufactured by Chicago Flexible Shaft Co. I believe it is the Stewart No. 9 Ball Bearing Shearing Machine. Pretty cool. I think the Stewart comes from one of the men that was a founder and inventor with the firm.

Check the link Irnsrgn posted, it has some base info about the company. Otherwise, my searches haven't found much more on this outfit.

Enjoy your time here, and don't forget to share your knowledge with us.

thanks for the replies. I just got in from the shop after spending some time with the Stewart handy worker. I gears on the end don't seem to have any funtion to the vise operation. Sure would like to know what they were used for. I picked up 3 of these last week.

A belated welcome from a fellow Oregonian. I'm up in Portland and do most of my smithing at historic Ft. Vancouver across the river. I just built a shop of my own but don't have my stack up yet for my coal forge. No propane yet. I checked out your site, nice work and shop. I just posted our annual workshop notice in the events area, maybe you'll be interested. Gary
