  1. Maybe you guys can pass this post to other members that might know something about this anvil vise.
  2. I don't think they are keyed for roller, there is no keyway, but the bottom shaft looks like it has been cut off. I think they may have been attached to something else. I bought 3 of these vises, last week.
  3. thanks for the replies. I just got in from the shop after spending some time with the Stewart handy worker. I gears on the end don't seem to have any funtion to the vise operation. Sure would like to know what they were used for. I picked up 3 of these last week.
  4. New guy here, here are a few pictures of what I picked up last week in Sacramento, CA. Used tool dealer that I met at a Renn Faire. The post vise is a Fisher 119lbs with 6-1/4" jaws. The large post drills I did not buy too big for my shop ... If anyone out there is interested I can send you the information. The anvil vises 3 are Stewart handy workers Chicago flexable shaft co. pat date sept 1916. There is a Cheney anvil vise no 40 pat date is nov 18 1879 from fulton iron and engine works.
  5. hi my name is Paul Brunetta. I am a blacksmith from rogue river oregon. looking to get some information on this anvil vise. the stewart handy worker, manuf. by chicago flexible shaft co. any help will be great. this weighs 60 lb and has a 5/8 hardy hole.
