newbladesmith
Ok. i recently got a comission for a dagger. no problem. but i just realized that while i know how to heat tread and temper a single edged knife, i have no idea how to temper a dagger. i think that normalizing, and then quenching should be about the same (let me know if i'm wrong about that) but i have absolutly no idea how to temper one. Can anyone help me?
ThomasPowers
Tempering tongs to put the heat using conduction on the center line of the blade are great if this is a double edged dagger. Dagger does not automatically mean double edged!
dablacksmith
i just use a oven temper and temper the entire blade the same ... a differential temper is tough to do on a double edge ...
Robert Mayo
I temper the whole blade in the oven just like all the other types of knives i make. Bob
