In the Summer 2009 issue of the Hammer's Blow (see page 12) there is a picture of Jack Wheeler using an unusual hammer. Does anyone know what kind of hammer it is?

That looks like a Maydohl (SP) I have 'cept mine is a crosspeen.

I think what he was looking for was it is a straight pein hammer, my wife had a crosspein that looked kinda like it too;-)

I am partial to straight pein hammers and the shape of Jack Wheeler's hammer looked interesting.

I have a two and a half pound straight pein hammer but am looking for another about a pound heavier.

I really like a fatter peen on my straight peen--I have one that looks like it had 1" round stock on the end that's wonderful to draw with. Sharper peens I generally only use for texturing.
