Glenn
There are a lot of double disc rotors being replaced in this area. Let's do something a bit different this month and make something useful using this item. The discs I have seen have different patterns of bolt holes, 4, 5, 8 so you get your choice. The webbing between the discs seems to beg to be used in some way. Use your imagination.
Dodge
The hub for my tire hammer was a disc brake rotor. I cut the disc off with a plasma cutter, however.
rthibeau
I use the brake rotors for the bases of stock support stands. See BP0316 for the full construction details.
anglesmith
The Mont De Lancey Blacksmithing Group (Melbourne Aust.) are using BMW brake discs as fire pots in both permanent and portable forges. I would imagine that many other makes of discs could be used as fire pots?.
Glenn
Great idea, but only if they are single side discs. The double sided discs have the air holes between the discs. This may effect the fire, I am not sure as I have not tried the double disc rotors in that application. I have built 2 forges using the single sided discs and they both work well. Great suggestion. easilyconfused
Never really looked at these bad-boys but when I look at that pic of the one with the air holes, I see the possibility of a chisle/punch holder when cut in half. Depends on the size of the holes though and I've never tried it. Just me thinking between classes and sleep-deprived.
Glenn
Sam, how are you going to address the accumulation of ash? This is not the double disc, but a single disc rotor used as a fire pot.BP0333 Supercharged 55 Forge ©
