Wyn
Hello, I recently joined and am interested in having a go at forging. I work in quarrying here in the uk working on static plant/machinery...so lots of arc/mig welding and gas cutting involved. I am looking at making a gas forge sometime soon so will be looking around for helpfull ideas.
Frosty
Welcome aboard Wyn, glad to have you. What are you planning on making? What you make for a forge will depend almost entirely on what you want to do with it. I'd suggest making a smallish one to start and once you've built some skills you'll have a better idea of what you really need/want. Please feel free to give me a shout, I've been known to build a forge now and then. Frosty
Wyn
That sounds like good advice Frosty, i'll start with something small and simple to get a feel for things. Maybe a few of the right sort of bricks and a simple burner so i can chop and change things to suit.
BIGGUNDOCTOR
You may also want to update your location, making it a little more specific. There are quite a few smiths in the UK. You may find out you have a neighbor doing some smithing.
