Avadon
I have a special-cut firebrick for my gas forge but when I was futzing with some doors i'm welding on it came down and broke the small brick. They are fragile/brittle when thin. Anyway, can I glue it back together or is it just funeral time.... Edited August 24, 2009 by Avadon
Ratel10mm
I glued my one-brick forge back together the other day, using cement I got from my brick supplier and so far it's holding together. :)
pkrankow
If the pieces stay in place, no need to glue. Small cracks are "normal" and should not affect operation as long as the crack is held closed. If you have a gap you may have a problem. You can also coat over the crack with your stabilizer or reflector (plistex, itc, kaolin, etc.) if you are worried about it. Marc
You should be able to get some furnace cement from the big box stores and small hardware places. It'll get glassy at forge temperatures, but still holds bricks together.
welder19
They make stuff that comes in small squeeze tubes for sealing castiron woodstoves and glueing in door gaskets and such get a tube of that to glue it back together, if it really needs to be glued that is. welder19
