Akad
Basically I've just been thinking about getting a press lately (a standard-ish one, used for flattening) So i was wondering where I could get one and how much it would cost. Yes, I realize the answer is probably on the forums somewhere, but I'm too lazy to try to find it :D

dlpierson
One more: Old World Anvils Press. I rather like the self contained and well shielded design of this one.
urnesBeast
I have never used a hydraulic press, but I am interested also. Here is a 35 ton. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices since I do not know much of this area, I have to ask "Would this work for forging?" -Doug

Dragons lair
The cheaper H presses will work. However be prepared to convert to air over hydraulic. The hand pumps require TOO many strokes. You can get a HF press and air over jack for less than $350. Ken
me miller
www.riversidemachine.net has a self contained up lift press that is a winner Edited August 15, 2009 by me miller
Akad
less than $350 eh? sounds good. Something like that wouldn't break after just a few months of repeated use would it? As long as it's being used properly right?
colafran
Would this one work for blade smithing?- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices I don't have an air compressor nor the extra funds to buy one right now, so I figure that I should get at least a 20 ton press that can be used with air for later on, but just hand pump for the moment. It is going to be used for fairly light work, I have a friend who can help me create the right plates.
Reinhard Schwaninger
$80 for air over hydraulic press at harbor freight and about $150 for 2 inch steel framework. Make sure you weld everything square. I made it adjustable with 3/4 dia bolts on top.
