ThomasPowers
I'd say mid 19th century; but it has been stored very poorly due to the corrosion present! It is wrought iron bodied for sure. Can you tell if the face is made up of several steel plates forge welded together or a single plate? Single plate is later...
devon blacksmith
It was being used as an ornament rescued from a garden the body is wrought the steel face is about 3/4 inch thick and made up from at least two pieces.

matt87
I believe I have that anvil's little brother; looks almost exactly the same but it's 55lb and has a 5/8 inch hardy hole and 1/2 inch pritchel hole but neither has a clear, straight line through. Top plate seems to be one piece and as I recall 3/4 inch or thicker. Both holes appear to be punched so I'd agree with Thomas that it's early-to-mid 19th century. I'll try and get some pics when I get my camera working again.
Dave Budd
Sorry Dean, i can't offer any more insight into your lovely old anvil. I actually misread the thread title. I thought you were trying to get your anvil a date! Is he a bit lonely? ;)
Bentiron1946
I was watching a double horn anvil on Ebay and at some $400 it still hadn't met reserve. It was in much better condition than you yours. I don't remember if a date was given. The seller was matchlessantiques if you want to look it up or contact them.
