April 11, 200917 yr I'm sure this is a common topic of discussion but does anyone have what they think is the best list of what type of steel can be found in a auto junk yard (now called auto recycling centers here in California---Gag!)? Post a link to your list or any good one you know of. Thanks in advance Ted :D Edited April 11, 200917 yr by MoleDoc I can't freaking type or proofread.
April 11, 200917 yr Coil and leaf spring........good for making punches, chisels, other tools Brake drums or rotors.......good for making homemade firepots. Axles.......good for hammers, hardy tools Hood support rods.........good source of 1/4in. to 1/2 in. round stock for projects. There's probably more, but that's a start :)
April 11, 200917 yr There was an earlier thread on what parts of a vehicle could be useful to a blacksmith. Auto parts for blacksmithing (junk yard parts) Lots of ideas there.
