  1. I'm pretty sure it's not clay, but cast iron. It's just really rusty. A JABOD forge might be just what I need, though. I simply thought it would be easier to modify a preexisting object to suit my needs than it would be to make something new from scratch.
  2. Hey all! I finally got back into the forging mood, but the problem is, I still haven't got my forge up and running yet. I managed to get my hands on this chimenea, but it's pretty rusty. I might be able to route the bellows through a hole in the bottom, and the grate that holds up the fuel is still remarkably intact, I just need to make a new door and get some charcoal or coke. Any advice? Will the rust affect anything?
  3. Thanks for the advice, swedefiddle! I'm thinking of using an old chiminea, but I'm not sure how I'm going to cut the hole for the "bellows" (hair dryer). As for groups in my area, the closest ones that I can find are in Dallas, but my family is planning on going to a renascence fair at the end of the month, so I may be able to talk to someone there. But until then, I suppose the internet shall be my best resource.
  4. Howdy, y'all! I recently bought my self an ASO, a plumber's torch, and a couple of hammers: The torch isn't quite hot enough to get the metal to glow, but it was still good enough to make my first piece: a marshmallow roasting stick!
