Folks, I woke up this morning to blizzard conditions. Thought I was going to have to dig my way out. Luckily I’ve got a shovel on my truck. Kinda looks like a whiteout. What would you guys from up north recommend? Salt my driveway or rig some tire chains? I haven’t measured the accumulation yet but looks pretty significant.

So, would hide glue be considered a rosin? I had a bunch of it once. Not sure where it is now.

The Cornish cross is the chicken that outgrows itself. It is bred to do that. I think they’re gross. I prefer to hatch eggs from my layers and raise them in a brooder. Farm raised chicken has way more flavor.

And if you have a cell phone they already know your every step. 

Get a metal detector and find some of those old logging spurs in the woods. Permission from the land owner and you can dig all the spikes you want. Old home sites from the early 1900’s also have an abundance of metal in the ground. Some of it is wrought.

TP, the writing is made in Sweden. What’s throwing me is the 6 above the weight and the P on the heel. The shape of the foot is between kohlswa and soderfors but can’t find any with similar castings. What does the underside of a soderfors look like? I think the clunk is the studs welded on. It has great rebound in that area of the face. If I buy it I’m not sure if I’ll cut the studs off. Wish I knew what they were used for.

Actually, I haven’t bought it yet. The guy that’s got it thinks everything is an antique. He will be back next week and I’ll make him an offer.

No. This one doesn’t have any handling holes. I’m thinking cast steel because it has raised markings and stamped.

Now I’m thinking Swedish.

The pins are threaded studs with nuts that were welded on at some point. Here’s a better pic with the star.

I found this one today. I don’t have the experience some of you have so a couple of questions. First, what do you think it is? It has the caplet under the base but the markings on the wrong side. 107 lbs and a word by that and a star. No steam hammer marks under the heel but looks like a circle on one side. Rings like a bell on the heel, not as loud at the horn and more of a clunk over the sweet spot. I didn’t have anything to measure the rebound but at least 80% and maybe as much as 90%. What do y’all think?

A 1x30 will work just fine. Some good tips on YouTube about them. Not going to hog material as fast as a 2x72 but who’s in a hurry? Don’t buy the cheapest belts and go ahead and get a good assortment of grits.

I’m going and get more for sure. Don’t really care whether they harden or not. Just curious what they may be. I always need good strong hooks around the barn. They should be good for that.

A friend that works for an electrical supply gave me some spool bolts. Seems I saw someone else post some recently. What are they? Low or medium carbon. Good for making hooks and such? He said I could pickup a truck load around the yard if I want them. These are about 5/16.

I never had any from Canada but I would think they would be as good as USA. Avoid Mexico and Brazil. They're junk.

When buying Nicholson, make sure they are made in USA. You can still find NOS (new old stock) sometimes. Bahco is another good brand.

Purple Bullet, those are cotton picker teeth for a combine. Be carefull. All the ones I ever saw look like they are plated.

Figured as much. Still good for making certain tools. Would have been nice if they were air hardening at scrap prices.
