I needed one quick and dirty, had 8' of rr track so this fatty was born heheh took all of 15 min to toss together, lopping off sides with the bandsaw and such prolly weighs about 2# but it gets the job done in a hurry, was "borrowed" a number of times to run some draft shoes flat but I use it on just about everything

If I was near enough the beer would do it for me hahah I managed to grunt my 341# trent solo a few feet, then up onto the stump so 300 would be doable!

I miss smithing at the shows, with a new home I dont think any trips are an option this season but next year Ill have to bring the lady up and check things out!

I was designing something similar when I was smithing at the Ohio renaissance festival, I love the idea of the sword/spring I was looking at doing a coiled rope design in a sort of catapult fashion heheh maybe one day... -

Its been my experience that most times when your getting fractures its a heat issue, your shocking the metal out of its plastic zone, you did say you were checking your forging temps, but what material are you actually using?
